Step 1

Put your plan in action

Speak with a dealer or your designer

Measure your space

Decide on cabinet finish and details

Look at samples with your dealer or designer

If needed, apply for building permits

Finalize your plans

Step 2

Time to order your selections

Order any new appliances

Order your cabinets

Order complementary products

Step 3

Prepare your home

Move or remove any valuables or furniture

Cover furniture and surfaces in nearby rooms with drop cloths

Take down any pictures on adjacent walls

Change air filters at the start of and during your project

Step 4

Create a temporary kitchen

Choose a room (extra helpful if has a water source)

Pick a nearby bathroom or laundry room for dishwashing

Set up your microwave, hot plate, coffee maker, and slow cooker (your new best friend)

If you have a grill, make sure you have the propane or charcoal you need

Stock up on paper plates and plastic flatware

Choose days to dine out or pick up takeout

Step 5

Get ready for everything to arrive

Designate an area to store your new cabinets

Inspect everything upon delivery to ensure everything arrived undamaged

Step 6

Help those helping you

Find parking spots for your installation team

Assign a bathroom for workers

Set aside a secure area for tools

Clean the work area daily

Celebrate your new space

Thank everyone who worked on the project

Time for the big clean in your construction zone

Find new (more spacious) homes for all your dishes

Prep for a renovation party
